Astrid Poghosyan, an Armenian project manager who has lived in Shanghai for 16 years, noted during a visit to Huashan Hospital that "the medical system and a lot of equipment were renewed." She also praised the fluent English spoken by doctors and nurses, saying, "Everybody had a very great skill of English language that there was no problem for us to communicate."
At Huashan Hospital, the patient-centric approach is emphasized. Dr. Zhou Pu, a physician at the hospital's International Medical Center, explained, "Our model emphasizes personalized care, with a dedicated team providing comprehensive support throughout the patient's journey."
Streamlined Payments and Direct Billing with Foreign Insurers
Payment processes for international patients are also being simplified. Huadong Hospital, housed in a century-old building, impressed Justin O'Jack, chief representative of the University of Virginia China Office, with its direct billing arrangements with foreign insurance companies. "I'm glad to see that those steps have already been taken and are becoming easier and easier to implement," he said, underscoring the importance of streamlining services like direct billing to attract more international residents and travelers.
