According to local authorities in Hubei, the province has recorded increases in both annual donation volume and the number of donors for 20 consecutive years, and its blood donation rate per 1,000 people ranks among the highest nationwide.
The provincial capital, Wuhan, is expanding donation sites in major commercial districts and along subway lines, in addition to its 68 existing collection stations, while upgrading services. More than 50 hospitals in the city have directly reduced blood transfusion fees for donors. The city has also introduced a range of preferential policies covering health care services, travel to scenic spots, transportation and health checkups.
